Board Committees

Executive Committee

Provides overall leadership and coordination for AL!VE's governance and strategic priorities. The Executive Committee supports the Board's effectiveness, ensures alignment across committees, and helps guide timely decision-making between full Board meetings.

Finance Committee

Maintains and strengthens AL!VE's financial health so the association can sustainably deliver programs and services for members. The committee supports budgeting, financial planning, and responsible stewardship of resources.

HR & Policy Committee

Builds AL!VE's capacity to engage volunteers effectively by strengthening policies, procedures, onboarding, and recognition practices. The committee also provides oversight related to AL!VE staffing (paid and unpaid) and key partnership/collaboration agreements.

Board Development Committee

Strengthens AL!VE's volunteer-led leadership pipeline by supporting recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of Board members and committee leaders. This committee helps ensure AL!VE has a strong slate of leaders ready to advance the mission.

Membership Committee

Supports member recruitment, retention, and a strong member experience. The Membership Committee helps welcome new members, assist current members, and improve how AL!VE serves and connects the community.

Marketing Committee

Coordinates communications, public relations, and marketing to increase engagement and strengthen AL!VE's brand presence. The committee supports other committees by developing and publishing content, promoting programs and resources, and ensuring consistent messaging across channels (website, newsletter, social media, and more).

Advocacy Committee

Champions the profession of volunteer engagement by helping members access tools, resources, and support to thrive in their roles. This committee supports advocacy, professional standards, and recognition efforts that elevate volunteer leaders and the volunteer engagement field as a whole.

CARE Committee

Advances AL!VE's commitment to Community, Awareness, Respect & Engagement (CARE) by ensuring these values are integrated across programs, services, and governance. CARE helps identify learning opportunities, supports inclusive practices, and strengthens AL!VE's culture of belonging.

Donor Engagement Committee

Supports AL!VE's sustainability through relationship-building and revenue development, including donations, sponsorships, partnerships, and grant-related opportunities. This committee helps strengthen how AL!VE resources mission growth and long-term impact.

Professional Development Committee

Designs and supports learning opportunities that help volunteer engagement professionals grow in skill, confidence, and leadership. This includes professional development programs and initiatives that connect members to resources, training, and peer learning.

Staff Committees

Service Enterprise Committee

Supports AL!VE's Service Enterprise work, including accreditation support, partner engagement, and advisory efforts that advance effective volunteer engagement practices across organizations.

Technology Committee

Modernizes AL!VE systems and tools by researching, implementing, and maintaining technology that improves operations and elevates the member experience, aligned with Board direction and organizational needs.

Volunteer with a Committee

Committee service is collaborative and action-oriented. In general, committee members:

• Participate in committee meetings and help move action items forward
• Complete agreed-upon tasks between meetings
• Collaborate on projects and support committee recruitment efforts
• Help ensure AL!VE's work remains member-centered, professional, and consistent
